In agriculture, mulchers play a vital role in managing crop residues, maintaining field hygiene, and preparing land for the next cultivation cycle. Among the commonly used mulcher types are mounted, offset, and self-propelled mulchers, each suited for specific farm needs.

  • A mounted mulcher is directly attached to the tractor using a three-point linkage. It is widely used in crop fields to mulch residues of sugarcane, cotton, paddy, and other crops. Mounted mulchers are known for their efficiency and ease of use, especially in medium to large-sized fields where they help improve soil fertility by evenly spreading shredded material across the field.
  • An offset mulcher is a variation of the mounted type but is positioned slightly away from the centre of the tractor. This design enables the mulcher to operate near field boundaries, tree lines, or fences, making it ideal for orchards, vineyards, and other areas where precise side mulching is required. Offset mulchers help cover areas that standard mounted models may not easily reach.
  • The self-propelled mulcher, on the other hand, comes with its own engine and is not dependent on a tractor for operation. These are highly manoeuvrable and suitable for rough terrains, hilly regions, or where tractors have limited access. Self-propelled mulchers are commonly used in forestry operations and large-scale residue management tasks.

Each of these mulchers offers unique benefits, and the choice depends on the type of crops, field layout, and specific agricultural requirements.
