The late Shri Chandra Mohan was regarded as the ‘Father of Tractor’ in India. He was the founder of Swaraj Tractors and has won a prestigious award, the Padma Shri, of India. He was given this name because of his immense contribution to bringing advanced tractor technology to India. He was the one who designed and invented Swaraj Tractors indigenously. He holds the credit for setting up Punjab Tractor, which was India’s very first large-scale venture for tractor selling.
Because of their outstanding knowledge of the tractor industry, he was also appointed as the Chairman of Punjab Technical University’s first School of Excellence. He also played a key role in bringing India’s agri-economy and green revolution to India. He passed away at the age of 87. But he left a huge legacy behind him. His contribution to upgrading and uplifting the tractor industry in India.
