India’s retail tractor sales witnessed strong momentum in December 2025. The total retail tractor sales are 1,13,265 units in December 2025, compared to 98,344 units in December 2024. This reflects a healthy year-on-year growth of 15.17%. Retail Tractor Sales in December 2025

Mahindra retained its leadership position in December 2025 with retail sales of 29,467 units, up from 24,293 units in December 2024. While its market share improved from 24.70% to 26.02%, indicating stronger dominance in the retail space.

Swaraj continued its steady momentum by selling 22,209 tractors in December 2025, compared to 18,230 units in December 2024, with market share rising from 18.54% to 19.61%, highlighting sustained demand across key agricultural states.

Sonalika reported retail sales of 13,932 units in December 2025, up from 12,778 units last year. Despite growth, Sonalika’s market share declined slightly from 12.99% to 12.30%.

Escorts Kubota sold 13,647 tractors in December 2025 versus 11,348 units in December 2024. Its market share increased from 11.54% to 12.05%, supported by consistent performance across both premium and utility tractor segments.

Massey Ferguson recorded retail sales of 11,483 units in December 2025, marginally lower than 11,563 units in December 2024. This resulted in market share slipping from 11.76% to 10.14%, reflecting competitive pressure in the mid-HP segment.

The top five tractor brands together sold 90,738 units in December 2025, out of a total industry retail volume of 1,13,265 units, accounting for around 80.11% of total retail tractor sales during the month. This clearly shows that the Indian tractor market remains highly concentrated, with leading brands capturing the majority of customer demand.

Retail Tractor Sales YTD (April 2025 to December 2025)

Mahindra remained the market leader on a YTD basis with sales of 1,82,741 units, up from 1,52,865 units in April–December 2024. Its market share increased from 23.81% to 24.34%, reinforcing its leadership position.

Swaraj sold 1,42,071 tractors during April–December 2025, compared to 1,21,100 units last year. This reflects market share improving slightly from 18.86% to 18.92%, indicating stable brand performance.

Sonalika reported YTD retail sales of 96,819 units, up from 85,251 units in the previous year. While its market share declined from 13.28% to 12.89%.

Escorts Kubota achieved YTD sales of 88,870 units, compared to 77,156 units in April–December 2024. This represents market share edged down from 12.02% to 11.84%.

Massey Ferguson sold 87,459 tractors in April–December 2025, up from 74,775 units last year. The brand maintains a stable market share of 11.65%, showing resilience in a competitive market.

The top five brands collectively sold 5,97,960 tractors out of a total industry retail volume of 7,50,873 units during April–December 2025, contributing approximately 79.64% of total retail tractor sales. This highlights that nearly four out of every five tractors sold in India came from these five manufacturers alone.

State-wise retail data highlights where tractor demand has been strongest during April–December 2025, with the top five states contributing a major share of total industry volumes.

Maharashtra emerged as the largest tractor market with 1,19,257 units, contributing 15.88% of total retail sales. Strong cash crop cultivation and demand supported higher tractor purchases across the state.

Uttar Pradesh followed closely with retail sales of 98,391 units, accounting for 13.10% of the total. Large agricultural landholdings and sustained government support continued to drive demand in the state.

Rajasthan recorded 93,158 tractor sales, contributing 12.41% to overall volumes. Improved rural liquidity and robust Rabi season preparations played a key role in supporting demand.

Madhya Pradesh posted retail sales of 86,507 units, with a 11.52% contribution. The state remained one of the most stable tractor markets due to diversified cropping patterns.

Gujarat completed the top five with 69,984 units, contributing 9.32% of total retail sales. Mechanisation demand in horticulture and cash crops supported steady tractor purchases.

The top five states together accounted for 4,67,297 tractor sales out of a total industry retail volume of 7,50,873 units during April–December 2025, contributing around 62.23% of total retail tractor sales. This confirms that more than 60% of tractor demand continues to come from a handful of high-consumption agricultural states.

Conclusion

Retail tractor sales in December 2025 and the April–December 2025 period clearly indicate a strong growth trend in India’s retail tractor industry. Overall, the industry’s double-digit growth reflects positive rural sentiment and sets a strong foundation heading into the next quarter.
