A tractor is one of the most important investments in the life of a farmer. And they always want their tractor cum investments to give good results but a simple wrong choice made while buying a tractor end up in a futile mistake.

Here are some important points that you should keep in mind to save yourself from this futile mistake:

The first thing you need to sort out is your budget. You should figure what your total budget including your savings and the finance provided to you so that you can choose whether you should go for new or an old tractor. As well as keep in mind while choosing a tractor that doesn’t lose any important feature of your tractor just for the sake of low price.

2. Requirements

What are your requirements? is an important question that you should ask yourself while choosing a tractor.

You need to find out what kind of operations you need to perform, the kind of terrain you will work on and the kind of implements you will need as well as the size of the field should be also kept in mind while choosing the size of the tractor.

You should also check the terrain of your field as the size and treads of tyres that decide the traction and ground clearance of the tractor are chosen based on this factor.

3. Specifications

When you are done sorting out your requirement you need to find a tractor whose specifications match your requirements. As the engine displacement, hydraulics type and lifting capacity, PTO type and horsepower, transmission, steering, hydraulics, wheel drive and mileage collectively decide the range of equipment that can be used, kind of operations that can be performed and efficiency of work.

4. Comfort and Understanding of technology

Before you make your decision don’t forget to have a test drive and figure out whether the seat is comfortable or not and you understand all the features of the tractor or not. Sometimes people pay high prices for more advanced features and they turn out to be too complicated to be useful. So make sure you go for a tractor with comfortable and simple controls.

5. After-Sales Services

After-sales services are also an important factor while choosing a tractor. Make sure you ask about the warranty period and service policy provided by the company. You should always go for the brand that provides a nice warranty period and whose service centres and tractor parts are easily available near you so that you can easily get your tractor serviced.
