Ans.

Different types of clutch are single clutch, dual clutch and double clutch. Let's understand these different types of clutch here

  • Single Clutch: A single clutch system uses only one clutch plate to control the connection between the engine and the transmission. It is simple in design and cost-effective, but doesn't allow the independent operation of the PTO (Power Take-Off). This means that when a farmer wants to use PTO-driven implements like rotavators or threshers, they often need to stop the tractor to engage or disengage them.
  • Dual Clutch: A Dual Clutch system operates two clutch plates — one for tractor movement (transmission clutch) and another for PTO (Power Take-Off) operations. It uses a longer 2-stage pedal that is pressed twice during gear changes: first to shift into neutral, and then into the desired gear.
  • Double Clutch: There are two clutch plates in the Double Clutch system, one for the tractor engine and another for PTO operations. There is a hand lever called IPTO (Independent Power Take-Off) for handling the PTO clutch and a foot pedal for controlling the transmission.
