With April 2025 showing a 6.80% year-over-year rise in overall retail tractor sales across major brands, the Indian tractor market had an amazing beginning to the new fiscal year. While demand stayed constant in some regions, most manufacturers reported declines from April 2024.
April 2025 vs. April 2024: Year-on-Year Sales Comparison
In April 2025, leading tractor companies battled to sustain their pace from the previous year. Mahindra kept its dominant role, but market share increased by only 0.88%. With 14,038 units sold in April 2025 compared to 12,655 units in April 2024, Mahindra saw a hike of 10.92%.

Swaraj sold 11,593 units of retail tractors to take second place. Its market share dropped by 0.33% from last year. With 7,782 tractors sold, Sonalika maintained its third position; since April 2024, its market share has dropped by 0.24%.
Selling 6,838 units, Massey Ferguson came in fourth position, up from 1,219 units in April 2024. It recorded a 21.69% increase in sales. A consistent performer in recent months, Escorts Kubota dropped to fifth place with 6,355 tractors sold, reflecting a 10.67% market share.

State-Wise Tractor Retail Sales in April 2025
Some states showed exceptionally greater demand for tractors in April 2025. Uttar Pradesh, the leading retail tractor sales state, accounted for 16.82% of the market share, with 10,020 tractors sold. Its agricultural growth helps it to be the leader in the tractor economy.

With 8,712 tractors sold, Maharashtra came second with a market share of 14.63%. Rajasthan sold 7,744 tractors and captured the third position with 13.00% of the market share.
With 6,417 tractors sold and 10.77% of the total sales attributed, Madhya Pradesh dropped to fourth place. Karnataka ranked fifth with 4,167 units sold and a market share of 7.00% in the overall retail tractor sales in April 2025.
Conclusion
Mahindra, Swaraj, and Sonalika stayed the top-selling tractor brands in India for April 2025. Government incentives, rising knowledge of mechanized farming, and anticipated increase in rural demand during the next crop season help to keep optimism high even if retail sales fell relative to last year.
