Apollo Tyres appoints R Mahalakshmi as chief human resource officer

Apollo Tyres has appointed Ms. R Mahalakshmi as its new Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). She has been an expert CHRO with almost 30 years of experience in HR and Business Consulting across India, Africa, the UK, and Southeast Asia.
Ms. Mahalakshmi is a specialist in leadership development, cultural transformation, and workforce strategies. She has held high-level HR positions at multinational businesses in the telecom, pharmaceutical, and FMCG sectors.
R Mahalakshmi: A Seasoned HR Leader
Most recently, she served as the Head of HR Southeast Asia at Mondelez International, where she also held the role of CHRO India, overseeing HR for six nations and ten manufacturing units. Her leadership was instrumental in driving a major business turnaround, building future-ready talent strategies, and shaping the organisational culture to fuel growth.
Mahalakshmi said that she was excited to join Apollo Tyres because of its strong purpose, dynamic culture, and bold growth agenda. She also added, "I look forward to partnering with our global teams to further strengthen our people strategy, foster a truly inclusive and high-performing culture, and make Apollo Tyres an even more exceptional place to work."
Apollo Tyres' Global Growth Vision
Ms Mahalakshmi will be in charge of projects to "refresh people policies, improve employee engagement, and strengthen the company's employer brand globally" as a member of Apollo Tyres' Global Executive Committee.
Apollo Tyres is the top tyre brand in India. Its headquarters is in Gurugram, and it has factories in India, the Netherlands, and Hungary. Ms Mahalakshmi's appointment comes at a crucial time as Apollo Tyres continues to expand its presence in over 100 countries, marketing products under the Apollo and Vredestein brands.
She will be based at the company's headquarters in Gurugram and will report to Mr. Neeraj Kanwar, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Apollo Tyres. "Mahalakshmi's global perspective, deep HR expertise, and people-centric approach will be instrumental in unlocking our next phase of growth," said Mr. Neeraj.
