The Indian tractor market is already crowded with big players, but CNH Industrial is clearly looking to make a much bigger impact here. The company plans to invest around ₹2,000 crore in India by 2030, primarily to expand tractor manufacturing, develop new products and boost its presence across the country. The company has also set an ambitious target: doubling its annual tractor production capacity.

A New Tractor Plant Coming Up in Greater Noida

Around ₹1,000 crore of the planned investment will go into a new tractor manufacturing facility near Greater Noida, along the Yamuna Expressway. CNH has already secured around 100 acres of land for the facility. The company needs the new plant because its existing Greater Noida facility has limited room for further expansion.

The first phase of the new plant is expected to become operational by mid-2028, adding around 20,000 tractors to the company's annual production capacity initially. The bigger goal is to take CNH Industrial's total tractor manufacturing capacity in India from around 70,000 units to 1.4 lakh units annually by 2030.

₹1,000 Crore More for R&D and New Products

The remaining ₹1,000 crore will not simply go into building factories. CNH plans to invest this money in research and development and new products, both for the Indian market and export markets.

The company currently sells tractors under the New Holland brand in India and operates its construction equipment business under the CASE brand. This focus on R&D could become particularly important as Indian farmers increasingly look for tractors with better technology, improved fuel efficiency and more specialised capabilities.

CNH Wants a Bigger Share of India's Tractor Market

The investment also comes with a clear business target. CNH Industrial India President and Mr. MD Narinder Mittal said that the company aims to double its market share in India and eventually to be one of the top 4 tractor manufacturers in the country.

Their tractor sales volume reportedly grew 42% in the first half of 2026, pushing its market share to about 5%, up from 4.3% in 2025. The company also intends to increase its dealer network from about 600 dealers to nearly 900 by 2028, with a special focus on strengthening its presence in Eastern India.

What It Means for Farmers in India

More manufacturing capacity, more products and a bigger dealer network could mean more choices for farmers. When a big manufacturer invests heavily in India, it is normally an indication that the company anticipates long-term growth in the country.

The real benefit for farmers will be better tractors, stronger after-sales support and more competitive products across the price and horsepower segments.

Tractor Gyan's Outlook

CNH Industrial's ₹2,000 crore investment is not merely an expansion plan. Doubling production capacity, investing in R&D and adding hundreds of dealers is a pretty clear signal that CNH is playing the long game. Now, the interesting part will be watching whether this investment helps New Holland gain the market share it is targeting and gives farmers more competitive choices in the years ahead.
