The tractor industry in India is the backbone of the agricultural economy. Tractor registrations have reached new heights in many districts because mechanised farming is growing increasingly popular, even in distant areas. 

Here are the top 20 districts in India with the most tractor registrations as per the data recorded by the respective RTOs. 

Top 20 Districts with Highest Sales as per Tractor Vahan Registrations FY 2024-25 

Banaskantha, Gujarat tops the list and is the only district to cross the 10,000 mark. The place is well-known for dairy farming, cotton, and oilseed production which supports the demand for heavy-duty tractors. 

Bikaner (Rajasthan) holds 2nd Place with nearly 38% less registrations than Banaskantha. Bikaner’s growth can be attributed to expanding agricultural land and increased water availability due to canal projects. 

Ahmadnagar and Nashik are just 118 units apart, in the 3rd and 4th positions, respectively. Both have strong horticulture and sugarcane activity, fueling high demand for tractors. 

Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh has 5,273 registrations. The district is witnessing fast-paced mechanisation due to government subsidy programs and the expansion of irrigated areas through the Ken-Betwa River linking project.

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district of Maharashtra registered sales of 5,223 units. Formerly Aurangabad, this district’s tractor growth is tied to its mixed-crop agriculture (cotton, jowar, pulses) and better financing options from RRBs and NBFCs.

Nagaur's dryland farming pushes demand for fuel-efficient and powerful tractors resulting in 5,050 registrations. Surendranagar, Gujarat is in 8th position with 4,812 registrations. With increasing cotton and groundnut farming, farmers have increased demand for tractors.

Alwar and Barmer have a gap of 118 units between them, indicating widespread, evenly growing tractor demand across western India.
