Dedicated kisan helpline centre launched for 3 Northeast states
Good news for farmers in India's Northeast states. The government just launched a dedicated Kisan Helpline Centre (KHC) to serve farmers across Tripura, Mizoram, and Meghalaya.
What Is the Kisan Helpline Centre and Why Does It Matter?
The Kisan Helpline Center was inaugurated on June 7, 2026, at the State Horticulture Research Centre in Nagicherra, West Tripura. It's essentially an upgraded, more structured version of the old Kisan Call Centre (KCC) that the Union government first launched back in 2004.
It was inaugurated by the Tripura Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath Ji. He mentioned that the Kisan Call Centre (KCC) was originally launched to provide farmers with timely access to agricultural information and expert advisory services.
- Farmers can reach it on the toll-free number 1800-180-1551.
- The Agartala centre specifically serves farmers across 3 Northeastern states.
- It's part of a 22-centre national network covering all states and Union Territories.
- It operates 7 days a week, 6 AM to 10 PM, including Sundays and public holidays.
- The centre now covers agricultural advisory, farmer outreach and grievance redressal, all under one roof.
Earlier, these centres were primarily advisory. Now they have a proper grievance escalation system, from KHC Supervisor to Section Officer to Grievance Officer, with farmer feedback collected after every resolved case. That's a meaningful step up in accountability.
How Does the Grievance Redressal System Work?
- Farmer calls 1800-180-1551 and raises a grievance.
- The KHC Supervisor reviews the case first.
- If required, it escalates to the Section Officer or Grievance Officer under the Department of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare.
- Once resolved, the case comes back to the KHC for farmer feedback and final closure.
Every call (call ID, duration, status, timestamp) is tracked through a built-in analytics system. So no complaint quietly disappears into a void.
Empowering Northeast Farmers
This new Kisan Helpline Centre marks a major leap in agricultural support, offering Tripura, Mizoram, and Meghalaya farmers reliable expert advice and a highly accountable grievance system right at their fingertips. We expect this system to bring relief to the northeast farmers.
