Fieldmarshal Sets 10-15% Market Share Target in India’s Below-20 HP Tractor Segment
Table of Content
Rajkot-based Fieldmarshal PM Diesels has set its sights on the small tractor segment. The company wants to capture 10-15% of India's below-20 HP tractor market over the next three years, and it has just launched two new engines to help get there.
New 15 HP and 18 HP Engines Introduced
The new single-cylinder diesel engines come in 15 HP and 18 HP versions. Both comply with the latest TREM V emission norms and have been approved by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). For farmers, this means engines that are cleaner, regulation-ready and built to a recognised standard.
A Small but Important Segment
The below-20 HP category makes up only around 3% of India's tractor market, with yearly sales of roughly 40,000 to 45,000 units. It may look small, but these compact tractors are a good fit for small and marginal farmers, orchards, vineyards and narrow-row crops, where big tractors can't work well. Capturing 10-15% of this space would mean a solid foothold for the company.
Shridev Tractors Line-up
Fieldmarshal currently sells Shridev tractors in 12 HP, 15 HP and 18 HP categories. The company now plans to bring in tractors of up to 30 HP in the near term, which will help it reach farmers who need a little more power for tasks like tillage and haulage.
Big Plans for the Future
The ambition doesn't stop there. Fieldmarshal's long-term R&D roadmap goes all the way up to 100 HP tractors, and the company also plans to build higher-horsepower models for international markets. Beyond tractors, it wants to expand into agricultural mechanisation, water solutions, clean energy and infrastructure equipment.
As Rishi Patel, Director, Fieldmarshal PM Diesels, said, "Our ambition extends well beyond the 15 HP and 18 HP categories." He also said Fieldmarshal is building a wider technology and product roadmap across engines, tractors and agricultural mechanisation, while also expanding into water solutions, clean energy and infrastructure-oriented equipment.
Tractor Gyan's Point of View
India's small farmers have long needed affordable, efficient and compliant machines. If Fieldmarshal delivers on its plans, the below-20 HP segment could see more choice, better technology and stronger competition, which is good news for buyers.
It will be interesting to see how quickly the company can scale up and turn these targets into real numbers on the ground. Stay tuned to Tractor Gyan for more updates from the tractor and farm machinery world.
