John Deere Tops the Higher HP Segment (50HP+, Trem IV), Punjab Tops State Chart
John Deere India overtakes all other tractor brands in the higher HP segment from Apr '24 to Oct'24, based on Vahan (RTO) registration. This segment comprises 50HP+ TREM IV tractors. Mahindra is not lagging behind either, with a narrow margin of just 15 tractors. This ongoing festive season could potentially change the industry scenario in any direction. With increasing farm mechanization in India, this segment plays a significant role in catering to high-range implements, including:
-
Tractor-driven combine harvesters (TMCH)
-
Threshers
-
Round balers
-
Square balers
-
Straw reapers
-
Loaders and dozers
-
Various other farm and commercial applications
These higher HP range tractors improve efficiency, increase income, and save time in farming activities. The John Deere “E Series” models 5310, 5405, 5075 and Mahindra's “Novo” range 605, 655 & 755 are popular choices in this segment.
Looking at the state wise data Punjab’s farmers prefer this segment, accounting for 25%+ of sales. Madhya Pradesh follows closely. Various subsidy schemes in Punjab contribute to its top position. Under crop residue management and to mitigate severe fog and pollution from straw burning, central and state governments offer subsidies of up to 80% in Punjab.
