The Indian retail tractor sector saw ups and downs in FY 2024-25, with sales of big brands reflecting different trends. Let's look at state-wise, year-over-year tractor retail sales data, and retail tractor sales data for March 2025.

FY 2024-25 vs. FY 2023-24: Retail Tractor Sales Performance Across Leading Brands

This year, retail sales between April 2024 and March 2025 revealed little disappointment. In contrast to FY 2023-24, Indian tractor companies faced a decline in FY 2024-25. The total retail tractor sales dropped by 1.32% over the previous year. 

Mahindra stayed at the top of the list with sales of 2,08,085 tractors in FY 2024-25, with an increase of 0.70% in market share. Swaraj finished second with a growth of 0.89%, selling 1,65,539 units. Sonalika ranked third with 1,15,193 tractors sold, representing a rise of 0.28% in market share from FY 2024-23. 

Massey Ferguson's retail tractor sales decreased by 8.15% over the previous year, keeping it in fourth place with 99,286 units sold in fiscal year 2024-25. Rising in the top five, Escorts Kubota sold 87,624 tractors in FY 2024-25. 

Overall, selling a total of 66,752 units, John Deere scored the 6th position and had a 0.51% growth in market share from FY 2023–24. Keeping its 7th position with a 0.18% decrease in market share, Eicher recorded 57,213 units of retail tractor sales.

New Holland then followed with 35,283 units, showing a 0.02% decrease in market share. Selling 15,026 tractors, Kubota saw a downfall of 0.28% in the market share. With 3,557 retail tractor sales, Captain kept 10th place for FY 2024–25, showcasing a 0.78% decline in the market share.

Sales of Retail Tractors in March 2025

The overall retail tractor sales in India declined 6.79% in March 2025 as compared to the sales of 77,053 tractors in March 2024. Compared to 17,938 units in March 2024, Mahindra sold 17,573 units, marking a 1.19% growth in the market share.

Swaraj came second by reporting sales of 14,343 units. Sonalika is in the 3rd position with sales of 9,262 units and a decreased market share by 0.54%. Escorts Kubota acquired the 4th position by selling 1.63% more tractors in March 2025. Massey Ferguson sold 7,059 units, therefore highlighting its 5th position.

Regional Leaders: State-Wise Retail Tractor Sales Performance

Leading the sales table with 1,39,886 tractors sold, Uttar Pradesh helped to contribute 16.08% to the total retail tractor sales in FY ‘25. Madhya Pradesh landed second with 1,15,784 units sold during FY 2024-25.

Rajasthan kept a strong market presence by being closely behind Madhya Pradesh with sales of 1,12,240 tractors. Maharashtra scored fourth with 85,970 tractors sold, with 9.88% contribution. Gujarat landed the fifth position by lagging behind Maharashtra by only 2008 tractors.

Conclusion

Mahindra, Swaraj, and Sonalika are the top 3 performers in the Indian retail tractor industry in FY 2024-25. Government actions and growing agricultural demand would help the FY 2025–26 sector.
