India’s tractor industry continued its steady momentum in October 2025, recording total retail tractor sales of 71,976 units, marking a healthy growth of 13.68% compared to 63,314 units in October 2024. This steady rise highlights the growing confidence of farmers and the positive sentiment in the rural economy.
During this festive season, several brands witnessed a temporary shortage of popular tractor models due to high demand. The strong market response and increased buying momentum have boosted overall industry performance. After such a successful festive period, it seems that the tractor industry is well on track to comfortably cross the 1 million sales mark in FY’26.
Retail Tractor Sales in October 2025
In October 2025, the retail tractor market maintained its growth momentum, supported by festive demand and GST reform.
- Mahindra led the market with 16,915 units sold in October 2025, compared to 14,786 units in October 2024, a growth of 14.4%. With a steady 23.50% market share, Mahindra continues to dominate the Indian tractor market.
- Swaraj recorded 13,366 units, up from 11,232 units last year, showing a strong 19% growth. Its market share also rose to 18.57%, reinforcing its position as the second-largest tractor brand in India.
- Massey Ferguson sold 9,615 units, compared to 8,770 units in October 2024, which is a 9.64% increase. However, its market share dipped slightly due to stronger competition.
- Sonalika recorded 8,877 unit sales in October 2025, up from 7,985 units in the previous year — marking an 11.17% rise. Despite minor share fluctuation, the brand continues its steady performance.
- Escorts Kubota sold 8,238 units, compared to 7,290 units in October 2024 — achieving a 13% increase in sales.
Together, these top five brands accounted for 57,011 units out of the total 71,976 retail sales, contributing over 80% of the overall market, proving their strong dominance in the Indian tractor industry.

- Sonalika achieved 67,142 units this year, compared to 61,627 units last year, an 8.95% growth. Its market share dipped marginally by 0.20%.
- Massey Ferguson saw strong growth with 62,410 units, compared to 53,821 units in FY24, a remarkable 15.96% increase, and a 0.56% rise in market share, one of the best among all.
- Escorts Kubota sold 60,006 units, compared to 56,828 units, a modest 5.59% growth. However, its market share dropped by 0.55%.
These five brands sold 4,07,489 units out of the total 5,13,268 tractors retailed between April and October 2025, contributing nearly 79% of overall sales.

- Uttar Pradesh remained the largest tractor market with 70,493 units, contributing 13.73% of total national sales.
- Rajasthan followed with 63,629 units, making up 12.40% of total sales, driven by strong agricultural activity and irrigation expansion.
- Maharashtra stood third with 61,317 units and contributed 11.95% of total retail tractor sales.
- Madhya Pradesh contributed 58,116 units with 11.32% contribution, maintaining consistent growth through large-scale farming demand.
- Gujarat recorded 53,342 units with a 10.39% share, supported by strong cotton and groundnut cultivation seasons.
These top five states together recorded 3,07,897 units out of the total 5,13,268 retail tractor sales, contributing around 60% of India’s overall sales and highlighting their crucial role in driving the country’s agri-machinery sector.
