Mahindra FEB crosses 70 lakh tractor production milestone

Mahindra FEB hits 70 lakh tractors production milestone. Yes, seventy lakh. That's not just a big number. That's a story of six decades of farming India's future.
From 1963 to 70 Lakh: The Long Road
Mahindra Farm Equipment Business (FEB) started its tractor journey back in 1963. Over the decades, it didn't just grow; it quietly became the world's largest tractor manufacturer by volume. Today, it operates under three brands:
- Mahindra Tractors (India's No. 1),
- Swaraj Tractors (India's No. 2 and the maker of the country's first indigenous tractor in 1974), and
- Gromax (India's No. 1 regional tractor brand, operating out of Vadodara).
Together, they cover over 350 models and variants. That's a portfolio broad enough to serve a smallholder farmer in Bihar and a commercial farm operation in Texas.
FY26 Was Their Best Year Yet
The timing of this milestone isn't a coincidence. Mahindra FEB just wrapped up a record FY26 with over 5.26 lakh units sold, their best annual performance ever. They launched some exciting new tractors too: the Mahindra 585 YUVO TECH+ V1, the NOVO Premium Edition, and the Swaraj Protek.
Looking ahead to FY27, they've already announced 7 new tractors and 12 new features across their ranges. That pipeline signals a company that's not just celebrating the past, it's building hard for what's next.
Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director & CEO, Auto & Farm Equipment Business, M&M Ltd., said, "As India progresses towards its vision of Viksit Bharat, transforming agriculture will remain central to nation-building... The milestone of 70 lakh tractors is a proud moment for all of us."
Not Just India: A Truly Global Story
Mahindra isn't just winning in India. The US is their second-largest market, backed by over three decades of presence and two assembly facilities. They're present in 50+ countries, and their OJA range is actively expanding into key global markets.
The Mahindra brand on a tractor in Kansas or Kenya carries the same engineering DNA as one working a paddy field in Tamil Nadu. That global trust has been earned, not gifted.
What This Means for Farmers
At the end of the day, tractors aren't just machines; they're the difference between subsistence and prosperity for millions of farming families. Each of those 70 lakh units represents a farmer who got more done in less time, reduced back-breaking manual labour, and could grow more.
Mahindra's stated mission, "Transform the Lives of Farmers Globally by Making Technology more Accessible and Relevant", isn't just corporate language. The numbers back it up.
Tractor Gyan's Perspective
70 lakh tractors is a genuinely outstanding figure, but what stands out even more is how Mahindra FEB got here. It’s not just about volume; it’s about building deep trust with the farming community for generations to come.
The fact that Swaraj built India’s first indigenous tractor in 1974 and is still one of the fastest-growing brands today tells you everything about the long-term thinking at play.
With 7 new models coming in FY27 and an aggressive push into smart agri machinery, this milestone seems less like an endpoint and more like a launchpad. This momentum will benefit Indian farmers and farmers across the world.
