Retail Tractor sales up by 6.6 percent YoY in July 2021 shows Fada Research

09 Aug, 2021

During July 2021 we can see that as our country is recovering from Covid 19 so is the tractor industry too. As of July 2021, the overall tractor sales have gone up to 82,388 units that were just 77,257 units in July 2020.

This good impact on overall tractor sales has led to an incline in the sales of most of the tractor brands but still, some brands weren’t able to save their sales during this month. So, to know how each brand has performed let’s look in detail at the sales figure of various tractor brands by interpreting the data provided by the FADA research.

First of all, let’s take a look at how the bigger brands of the tractor industry have performed-

Mahindra

The No.1 brand of India Mahindra has continued its legacy by again topping the charts with total sales of 20,210 units grabbing market shares of 24.53% in July 2021. Luckily, this month Mahindra tractors has successfully managed to increase both its sales and market shares during this month. As during this period last year, it only grabbed, total sales of 18,891 units while grabbing only 24.45% of market shares.

Swaraj

As always the second place in the chart has been again grabbed by another division of Mahindra that is Swaraj. During this month Swaraj tractors has successfully managed to increase its sales that stood at 12,441 last year to 13,110 units this year. But unfortunately, it wasn’t able to save its market shares from declining as it grabbed only 15.91% of market shares in July 2021 which were 16.10% in July 2020.

TAFE

TAFE has surprisingly performed well this month as it has managed to increase its sales up to 10,047 units that were just 9,669 in July 2020. But still, it wasn’t able to maintain its market shares during this month and showed a decline in its market shares by reaching 12.19% from 12.52%.

Sonalika

Sonalika has managed to show a little growth in its sales by grabbing the sales of 9,139 units that were just 9,097 in July 2020. Just like TAFE, Sonalika tractors too wasn’t able to save their market shares and showed a decline of 0.68% in their market shares reaching only 11.09%.

Escorts

This month has been really bad for escorts as it has witnessed a decline in both its market shares as well as sales. Its market shares went down to just 10.71% that was 11.45% in July 2020 while its sales went down from 8,846 to just 8,822.

John Deere

Just like last month, the sixth position in the list is grabbed by the international brand John Deere. In July 2021 John Deere has successfully managed to see an incline in both overall sales and market shares as in July 2021 it experienced total sales of 6,109 units with 7.41% market shares that were only 5,118 units and 6.62% in July 2020.

Eicher

Eicher tractor has shown a good performance this month as even though it wasn’t able to show an incline in market shares, but it didn’t witness a decline either by grabbing the same portion of market shares i.e 6.49%. It has also successfully managed to increase its sales from 5,011 units to 5,348 units in July 2021.

New Holland

New Holland too has shown good performance this month as it was successful enough to increase both its market shares and sales during July 2021. Its market shares have gone up by 0.12% reaching up to 3.60% and sales have gone up to 2,966 units from just 2,687 units during this month as compared to the same period during last year.

Kubota

Kubota too has successfully managed to save its sales and market shares graph from going downhill as its sales went up to 2000 units from 1,244 units while its market shares went up to 2.43% in July 2021 from 1.61% in July 2020.

Let’s take a look at how the smaller brands of the tractor industry have performed in July 2021-

During this month VST wasn’t able to maintain its graph from falling as its sales went down from 948 units in July 2020 to 924 units in July 2021 while its market shares fell from 1.23% to 1.12% during this duration.

Brands like Captain and Force too wasn’t able to show an incline in their market shares as they declined from 1.10% to 0.63% in the case of Captain and that in the case of Force declined from 0.58% to 0.54%.

While on the other hand, Indo Farm showed good growth in its market shares as it went up by 0.12% reaching 0.33% during July 2021.

As our country is recovering from Covid 19 we can see that along with it tractor industry is recovering too as most of the companies have shown a good incline in their graphs during July 2021. But as most of the small tractor brands weren’t able to take a good growth during this time, we just hope that small tractor brands can see an incline in their market shares in upcoming months too.
