Retail Tractor Sales Register 25.49% Growth in December 2024, Sold 98,322 Tractors

The tractor industry is growing year by year. In December 2024, the Indian tractor market showed significant growth. Retail tractor sales in December 2024 are covered in this article. It also covers the retail tractor sales figures of different brands and state-wise sales of tractors.

Total Retail Tractor Sales in December 2024

The tractor retail sales in India experienced an impulsive increase from 78,348 units sold in December 2023. In December 2024, retail tractor sales were 98,322. The 25.49% increase in the YoY retail tractor sales for December 2024 is primarily due to the increased interest of individuals in the purchase of new and advanced agricultural equipment.

Brand-wise Retail Tractor Sales Performance in December 2024

With an amazing volume of 24,284 units sold in December 2024, Mahindra Tractors, the market leader, kept its rank as the most chosen brand. With its innovative machinery, extensive network of partners, and long-lasting products, Mahindra is a key player in the Indian tractor market. 

Second in sales was Swaraj Tractors, which sold 6,060 tractors less than Mahindra. Sonalika sold 12,764 tractors in December 2024, with a 12.98% market share. 

Massey Ferguson comes in fourth place, keeping its name for producing first-class machinery. It sold 1,211 tractors less than Sonalika. 

At present Escorts Kubota (Farmtrac and Powertrac) ranks in fifth position. If the company sold 2,301 more tractors, Massey Ferguson could be left behind.  Affordable products of the company help small and medium-sized farmers to trust it.

Eicher sold 6971 tractors in December 2024. 1324 more tractors than in the same month in 2023. Still, their market share dropped by 0.12%.  

The retail tractor sales of John Deere in December 2024 were 686 units less than those of its immediate competitor, Eicher. 

New Holland Tractors' contribution to the total retail tractor sales is 4.07% by selling 4,002 units. Kubota sold 1,488 units of tractors, with 1.51% of the market share.

Captain Tractors is 10th on the list with sales of 1,210 tractors with a growth of 0.87% in market share from the past year. 

2,289 tractors were sold by other tractor companies collectively, resulting in a total contribution of 2.33% to the Indian market.

State-wise Retail Tractor Sales Performance from Apr-Dec 2024

Uttar Pradesh sold a maximum of 1,00,671 tractors from April to December 2024 and is first on the list of retail tractor sales. The second state on the list, Madhya Pradesh, sold 85,174 tractors.

Third on the list is Rajasthan, which sold 83,331 tractors in December 2024. Gujarat is fourth on the list with 68,755 retail tractor sales in December 2024. Maharashtra sold 58,640 tractors in the retail market and is fifth on the list. 

Conclusion

December 2024 saw an exceptionally rapid expansion of the Indian tractor market. Mahindra, Swaraj, and Sonalika remained the leaders in December 2024 retail tractor sales in India. The rising use of machines and modern technologies in the Indian fields will cause greater growth in the tractor market in 2025.
