It's 5 AM, and you're already in your fields, just like your father and grandfather before you. The sun hasn't risen yet, but your worries have been awake all night. Will there be enough diesel money for the pump today? Will the electricity come on time for irrigation? Will this month's power bill leave enough for your children's school fees?

If these thoughts feel familiar, you're not alone. Across our beautiful country, millions of farming families share these same concerns. But today, we bring you news that could change everything - a golden opportunity that's as reliable as the sunrise itself.

The PM-Kusum Yojana (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan) isn't just another government scheme - it's a promise from our nation to you.
PM Kusum Scheme Launched in 2019, with your dreams in mind, this initiative recognizes that you deserve better than sleepless nights worrying about power costs. Think of it as gifting your family its own piece of the sun - a personal power plant that works as hard as you do, right there in your fields.

What Does the PM-Kusum Scheme Bring to Your Family's Doorstep?

Imagine telling your children that from now on, the sun will help pay for their education and explaining to your spouse that diesel costs are no longer a monthly worry. This PM-Kusum solar yojana has three beautiful components, each designed to lift the burden off your shoulders:

1. Solar Water Pumps for Your Land: Freedom from Fuel Worries

Remember Ravi uncle from the next village? He used to spend ₹8,000 every month on diesel for his pump. His wife would often say, "The pump drinks more than it gives!" But after installing a solar pump through PM-Kusum scheme, Ravi uncle now smiles when he talks about irrigation. "The sun works for free," he says, "and it never takes a day off!"

Once your solar pump is installed, every sunrise becomes a blessing. No more calculating diesel costs before watering your crops. No more waiting for electricity that may or may not come. Your pump runs on sunshine - nature's most abundant and free resource. During peak summer, when your crops need water most, the sun shines brightest, giving you exactly what you need when you need it.

2. Grid-Connected Solar Power Plants: Your Land Becomes a Money Tree

What if we told you that the same piece of land that grows your crops could also grow money? Sunita Devi from Rajasthan discovered this magic. She installed solar panels on her less productive land and now earns ₹8,000 every month by selling electricity back to the grid. "It's like having a government job," she laughs, "but the office is right here on my farm!"

This isn't just about earning extra income - it's about dignity. It's about walking into the market with your head held high, knowing that even if the rains are late, you have another source of income flowing steadily from your land. Your children can dream bigger dreams, and your family can plan for a brighter future.

3. Solarising Your Existing Pumps: Giving New Life to Old Friends

Already have an electric pump that's been faithfully serving your family? Don't worry - we haven't forgotten about it! You can convert your existing pump to run on solar power, dramatically reducing those electricity bills that eat into your family's budget. It's like giving your old, trusted pump a new lease on life, powered by the eternal energy of the sun.

Understanding the Cost: Your Investment in Sunshine

You might be wondering about the cost. The government has designed the PM-Kusum yojana price list and subsidy structure to be incredibly farmer-friendly. It's a partnership, not a burden.

Component A: Decentralised Solar Power Plants (500 kW – 2 MW)

Farmers or developers don’t get direct subsidies. DISCOMs purchase power from these small solar plants and receive a Procurement-Based Incentive (PBI) of ₹6.60 lakh per MW annually or ₹0.40 per unit, whichever is less, for five years. This encourages local renewable power generation.

Component B: Stand-alone Solar Pumps (up to 7.5 HP)

Farmers installing solar pumps get 30% subsidy from the Centre and 30% from the State, while paying 40% themselves. In special states and UTs, the Central subsidy rises to 50%, the State still contributes 30%, and farmers pay only 20%, making pumps highly affordable.

Component C: Solarisation of Grid-connected Pumps

Farmers can solarise existing grid-connected pumps to irrigate fields and sell surplus power. The subsidy pattern is identical to Component B: 30% central, 30% state, and 40% farmer contribution. In special states and UTs, farmers contribute just 20%, with the Centre covering 50%
