Tractor Retail Sales in January 2025: Tractor Brand’s YOY & YTD Performance
Indian tractor sales are rising due to rising demand for advanced farming equipment. Retail tractor sales rose again in January 2025 after a robust December 2024. This report analyses retail tractor sales by brand and state in January 2025.
Total Retail Tractor Sales in January 2025
Following the sales of 87,967 tractors noted in January 2024, the retail tractor sector in India kept its rising trend in January 2025. Sales increased 4.55% year over year to 91,970 units in January 2025.
Retail Tractor Sales Performance by Brands in January 2025
In January 2025, Mahindra Tractors maintained a strong market presence by selling 22,068 units. It kept its top rank because of its strong market presence and good name for making powerful tractors.
In second place is Swaraj Tractors, a Mahindra & Mahindra division selling 17,328 tractors. Still attracting a sizable clientele, the brand's robust performance in numerous agricultural environments is the factor for this performance.
Sonalika Tractors came in third with a 13.36% market share. There was a sale of 12,284 units in January 2025. Heavy-duty and fuel-efficient tractors by Sonalika clarify their continuous market expansion.
Massey Ferguson positioned itself right next to Sonalika with its powerful machinery, selling 10,834 tractors in January 2025. In spite of the 0.73% fall in sales from last year, farmers trust the brand a lot.
Escorts Kubota (Farmtrac and Powertrac) came fifth with 9,121 tractor sales. The modestly priced & powerful products of the company have greatly helped small and medium-scale farmers.
John Deere Tractors sold 6,515 tractors with a growth rate of 0.65%. Although Eicher is known for its global reach and new advancements, it is behind John Deere in the rankings by selling 555 tractors less than John Deere in January 2025.
Maintaining a consistent market share, New Holland Tractors sold 3,970 tractors in January 2025, therefore rendering 4.32% of the market share.
A growing participant in the Indian tractor industry, Kubota recorded sales of 1,629 units, therefore obtaining a market share of 1.77%.
Captain Tractors targets small and specialized farms. Compared to last year, they sold 489 units, and their market share declined by 0.64%.
Other tractor manufacturers sold 1,772 tractors in January 2025 and represented a 1.93% market share.

State-wise Retail Tractor Sales Performance in Apri 2024 - January 2025
Uttar Pradesh kept leading the market in terms of state-wise performance. A total of 1,16,025 tractors were sold from April 2024 to January 2025 to confirm its top rank.
Reflecting the great reliance on agriculture and mechanization in Madhya Pradesh, the state followed closely with YTD retail tractor sales of 97,742 units.
Rajasthan is third in sales, with 95,773 units sold. Gujarat maintained its fourth position by selling 79,705 tractors thanks to its innovative farming methods and policies.
Maharashtra, known for its different farming situations, ranked fifth in the country by selling 69,361 tractors.
Other states added 2,75,644 units to the overall sales, enabling the market to grow generally.
Conclusion
The Indian tractor industry remained growing in January 2025. Mahindra, Swaraj, and Sonalika kept their market share; others had varying outcomes. The tractor company's understanding of new agricultural technologies and the implementation of strong regulatory constraints will help it to grow in the next months.
The rise in retail tractor sales reflects the improvement of agricultural technology, which therefore raises farm efficiency and output. One expects the Indian tractor market to grow more in 2025.
