Fordson was a brand name for tractors and trucks. It was used on a range of mass-produced general-purpose tractors manufactured by Henry Ford & Son Inc from 1917 to 1920, by Ford Motor Company. After 1964, the Fordson name was dropped and all Ford tractors were simply badged as Ford in both the UK and the US. Escorts began local manufacture of Ford tractors in 1971 in collaboration with Ford, UK, and total production climbed steadily to 33,000 in 1975, reaching 71,000 by 1980. Ford (Ford - New Holland) was sold in 1992. Ford Motor Company proper quit the tractors business, but the name was allowed to continue as per agreement until 2000 when Escorts relabelled its Ford models under the Escort brand. Escort manufactures produces construction and agriculture tractors in the 08-75 HP range and has already sold over 600,000 tractors.
