Tractors are famous as the best friend of farmers but not only farmers many other industries use tractors for different purposes. There are many different types of tractors which are used for many different purposes. Tractors can be classified into 3 types based on their application:
? Type of Construction
? Type of Drive
? The Purpose for which the usage is done

Construction type tractors are further divided into 2 types:
1. The driver can comfortably sit and drive the tractor
2. The driver has to move or walk along with the tractor and control it
Drive type tractors are further divided into 2 types:
? Track Type
• Half-track
• Full track
? Wheel Type
• 2 wheeled
• 3 wheeled
• 4 wheeled
The following are the types of three-wheeled tractors:
1. Earth Moving Tractors
These tractors are used for digging and moving soils from one place to another. For example, they are mainly used at dam sites, construction sites and quarries. They are very strong and heavy tractors. They are used with equipment like excavators and backhoe Loaders.

2. Implement Carrying Tractors
These tractors are used to mount different implements from one place to another. It is used in many Industries to carry big machines from one place to another

3. Rotary Tiller Tractors
These type of Tractors are mainly used in small fields or at the place where the level of fields is not equal. For example at fields at hills and slopes. These are also called as walking tractors.

4. Garden Tractors
These are also tractors used in small fields. They usually lie in the 1-10 HP range and maximum up to 20 HP. As the name suggests they are used for gardening purposes like cutting and levelling. They are small tractors and have thick tyres for comfort while driving in gardens. Swaraj and John Deere have companies have a different range of garden Tractors.

5. Industrial Tractors
These tractors have Industrial Uses. They were also called as tuggers. They are fitted with Cranes and are built the carry heavy loads. These tractors are heavy and have strong body design. The main feature of these tractors is that they have drawbars instead of three-point linkages. Ford and Escorts Tractors are mainly used as Industrial Tractors.

6. Orchard Tractors
These are special farm tractors that are mainly used in fruit orchards, nut fields and vineyards. They have applications like levelling the land and pick fruits and vegetables from high trees. their special feature is that they have very comfortable seats to work for long hours and pick high hanging fruits and nuts. Mahindra has a range of Orchard Tractors. Force Orchard OX25 DLX is also a very popular Orchard Tractor.

7. Row Crop Tractors
These are used in farms where crops are to be grown in a row. They are usually all-rounder Tractors that can be used for all field applications. Their applications include ploughing, harvesting, levelling and harrowing. They have many advantages and are the most economic Tractors.

8. Utility Tractors
These tractors can be used for almost all purposes. The farmers owning utility tractors do not need to buy separate implements individually. They are usually 45 HP -140 HP tractors. they are multi-function multi-purpose tractors and are usually costlier than other tractors. They are mainly used in bigger fields.
