The full form of HP is Horsepower. The hp in a tractor calculates or measures the amount of power generated by the tractor. It took an experiment by engineer James Watt in the late 1700s to measure the power generated by steam engines. It utilized the power provided by draft horses as the comparison. In a mechanical engine 1 horsepower = 33,000 ft·lbf/min.
