What is the torque in a tractor?
Asked By : Azad Rathore
Answer: By Ashwini Batham
If we read about the specifications of a tractor, torque is mentioned in the Engine details section. Torque is a direct measure of an engine’s power and performance. In general science, torque is the rotational force that causes the on-axis movement of an object. Tractor torque means the twisting force of the engine. With the help of this twisting force, the engine of a tractor can turn the tractor wheels and perform multiple farming tasks like load towing, pulling implements, and plowing fields. To measure tractor torque, units like pound-feet (lb-ft) or Newton meters (N·m) are used. High torque means high pulling power of a tractor and heavy-duty tractors are likely to have high engine torque. If you have to perform heavy-pulling farming tasks regularly then you must get a tractor with high torque value.
