The full Form of PTO is power take-off. PTO in tractor works by transferring power from a tractor's engine to an implement or attached equipment that doesn’t have its own engine and a power source. Hence, a tractor PTO acts as a power source for an attached implement. To use a tractor PTO, you require a PTO-driven implement attached to it. PTO allows the farmers to use the tractor’s power to run implements like the harvester, mowers, and other implements without engines.

Moreover, the modern PTO protects the transmission from damage while transferring energy to high-momentum implements. Different types of PTO used in tractors are transmission pto shaft, reverse pto, economy pto, independent pto, and two-stage clutch (live).
